Devin Shiroma

Hometown: Honolulu, Hawai`i currently residing in St Charles, Mo
Assignment: Assistant Coach, Club Vertical Volleyball


Devin Shiroma joins the Club Vertical Volleyball (CV) coaching staff as an assistant coach following a decorated collegiate playing career at Lindenwood (Mo.) University. 

Shiroma will assist at practices with skill development and offer insights on technical and tactical applications to all students in all age divisions in CV.  He will serve an assignment as assistant coach to the CV 18 Mizuno boys team and has been part of the CV/Alfred Agcaoili summer volleyball camp coaching staff since 2007.

During his senior year, Shiroma helped to lead the Lions to the 2009 NAIA Men's Invitational national championship, a school-record 37-3 overall record (10-0 in conference) and #1 national ranking while earning MAMVIC West Player of the Year honors.

The 6'5" left side hitter had 10 kills, 11 digs, two blocks (one solo) and one ace to help the LU Lions to a 3-set sweep of 7-time national champion California Baptist University in the NAIA Men's Invitational National Championship finals.
Shiroma finished as Lindenwood University's all-time leader in kills in a season with 601 (4.45 per set).

All told, Shiroma helped LU to four consecutive Top 4 NAIA men's volleyball national rankings (two #1 national rankings), four straight NAIA national championship playoff appearances ('06-'09), three NAIA Final Fours ('06, '07, '09), three conference championships ('06, '07 and '09), two national championship matches ('06, '09) winning one national championship ('09) and helped the team to a four-year record of 123-25 (.831 winning percentage): 36-4 (.900) in '06; 25-8 (.758) in '07; 25-10 (.714) in '08; and 37-3 (.925) in '09 featuring a 23 consecutive match winning streak en route to the national championship.

For the 2010 men's collegiate volleyball season, Shiroma accepted a collegiate undergraduate assistant coaching assignment as JV head coach to the nationally-ranked LU men's volleyball program and served as an assistant coach to the nationally-ranked men's varsity volleyball team.

Shiroma prepped at Fr. Damien Memorial High School (Honolulu) and is a 2005 graduate.  He competed for the Monarchs boys varsity volleyball team and earned all-league honors his senior year in the ultra tough ILH (Interscholastic League of Honolulu).  Shiroma played junior club with the highly successful Asics Rainbows Volleyball Club (Honolulu) playing alongside some of the best volleyball athletes in Hawai`i (future NCAA Division I national champions and fellow collegiate volleyball student athletes).  Shiroma considered to play for Missouri Valley College and national champion California Baptist University.

The Hawaii-native is a 2010 graduate of Lindenwood University, Bachelor of Science, Physical Education.  He is currently enrolled to work towards his Masters degree in Athletic Administration and aspires to become an Athletics Director at the high school or collegiate level. 

During his spare time, Devin enjoys going to the beach (when he is home in Hawai`i) and enjoys working out and spending time with family and close friends.  Devin is a huge San Diego Chargers (NFL) fan. 

He will begin an intensive training program to prepare for a professional volleyball career while working simultaneously on his Master's degree.  He currently resides in St Charles, Missouri.  Devin's older brother currently works in the Athletics Department at Lindenwood University and competed in football for one of the top nationally ranked collegiate programs in the United States.
