Big Brother/Big Sister Program
Dear CV Families, Students, Staff, and Friends:
Club Vertical Volleyball, LLC (CV) is proud to announce our CV Big Brother&Sister program.
The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for our students in the upper division of CV to give back to their community and contribute to volleyball.
Inherent in our Club mission statement is to educate children and youth to become good and industrious men and women.
My vision, as President, is simple: practice and promote the 3 R's of Education Responsibility:
Reach Ready Return
What I have discovered in my many years of working with young people is their tendency to become self involved. This is human nature. What we are working to achieve with this program for our young people -- a small part of the overall Club Vertical Volleyball experience -- is a culture and community of timeless values and accountability.
As a team and organization, we ACT to acheive three (3) things:
A sense of values: what helps you to help yourself and others;
Self-reliance: be dependable;
Caring (community): think about and respect others.
All students enrolled in The Academy division of CV (15's, 16's, 17's, 18's) are required to participate in the following activites for the 2009-2010 season as a volunteer:
Two (2) Youth/Junior Volleyball Clinics as a court coach (2 hours each/ 4 hours total);
Two (2) 10's, 11's, and/ or 12's Local Tournaments between January 2010 thru May 2010 as an Assistant Coach (4 hours each/ 8 hours total -- select any two tournaments between the 5 month period);
Assist at any six (6) Junior School practices between November 2009 and April 2010. The Academy student will choose these dates based on his availability (12 total hours);
Contribute a one page article on the topic of your choice (must be pre-approved by coaches) to Volleyball VIEWS, the official newsletter of Club Vertical Volleyball. This article will be posted on the front page of the CV website.
The total hours accrued will go towards The Academy student's clock hours for volunteer community service work.
As a team and organization, our actions are realized in our overriding commitment to and respect for the Hawaiian concepts of malama (to care for each other: family, friends, community, life, and everything around you) and po`okela (a passion for excellence).
The CV Big Brother&Sister program will be an enjoyable and, ultimately, rewarding experience.
We are proud to have this program as a feature of our junior national boys club program. What a wonderful opportunity to have our young people examine their contributions to something truly significant: human relationships, selflessness, and a sense of community.
God Bless.
GO CV!
Sincerely,

Alfred Agcaoili
President
